Bot Identity Methodology

Bot identity describes how SpyderBot classifies observed machine actors from eligible request evidence. Identity can be verified, classified, or insufficient depending on the available signals.

  • Verified — independently confirmed for the stated identity or condition.
  • Classified — assigned to a documented category from available signals.
  • Insufficient — signals exist but cannot support a reliable identity claim.

A request does not prove that content was read, understood, indexed, cited, recommended, or used for training. No observed request is not proof of no access when measurement is partial.
